Cultural heritage does not live in the petrified forms of the past, but in the very act of transformation.
Thus, turning monuments into inflatable structures is not an act of ridicule — it is an homage to their fragility.
Because fragility is the most honest state of existence.
As Adorno suggested, the value of art lies not in being “beautiful,” but in its ability to resist.
My works refuse to submit to the fixed images of culture; they inflate them, loosen them, and let them deflate.
In this process, meaning itself changes shape under the pressure of the material.
If a monument is no longer made of stone, is it still a monument?
And is “heritage” something to be preserved, or a thought reinvented by every generation?
These are the questions that concern me.
Beneath the glossy surface of the culture industry, I see how heritage, too, becomes a marketable image.
Yet directing criticism only from the outside feels incomplete to me.
That is why I let this work speak from within the system itself — in its own visual language.
Outcome
Project explores the notion of metamorphosis and the dynamic nature of cultural icons in a rapidly changing world. By transforming iconic world monuments into inflatable structures, the artwork challenges traditional perceptions of permanence, inviting viewers to reflect on the fluidity of cultural identity and the transient nature of human creations.
Impact
Through “Transmuted Heritage” the artwork encourages viewers to question their assumptions about cultural icons and the concept of permanence. It prompts them to contemplate the dynamic and evolving nature of human creations, the impact of globalization on cultural identity, and the importance of embracing change while valuing the preservation of heritage.
